(New) Shiny & Fancy Features
If you played this game before January 25th, 2022, at 00:00 GTM, you may want to try again. Now you can PAUSE THE GAME by pressing ESC! Exactly, ESC, not !, E+S+C or any weird combination. Isn't it amazing? We strive to be very avant-garde when developing. We didn't stop there, though. That's just the tip of the iceberg volcano. If you play the HTML version of the game, it might lag less due to [long and tech-y talk that you may skip if you're not that interested]
--- WARNING: implementation details below ---
We optimised the usage of the _input, _physics_process and _process functions throughout the code to reduce the computational load.
We limited the maximum number of spawnable creatures in the map at once. Why wasn't it always like that? Because we wanted to drown you in make you feel loved and appreciated by low-poly cute fictional creatures.
We also defined an area of the map where they are not allowed to go. Actually, they may attempt to trespass but they'll always (ALWAYS) face punishment: they will be freed from your computer resources forevermore. Isn't it philosophical? After all, what is freedom if not death by deallocation?
We decided that the ghost should be allowed to cross the sea and fall throughout the (maybe) infinitely generated monotone abyss below the game area. They player should be allowed to dig their own grave...
--- TL;DR nothing interesting, really. Just go on ---
but we don't promise anything.
Today, the centrepiece of the island, which we may or may not name SacriFUN Volcano (if we don't forget about this later on), came of age and started smoking like a spewing volcano lava dispenser. They grow up so fast... :°c
We improved the user experience by slapping a blood droplet on the top left corner of the window. You'll find the sacrifice counter inside. Now, you'll be able to know what kind of creature you sacrificed if you sacrificed a single creature, or you'll see a combo message like "You sacrificed x creatures" if you sacrificed more.
Beware, though, of their stares: now they'll face you when they follow you to their unwitting sacrifices.
We dropped a directional light and fixed the direction of the other, touched some settings and changed the default (ugly) sky. So now there'll be shadows. (enticing)
